Since June 2015, Suzan is the Deputy General Counsel at Yapstone, a global provider of full-stack payment solutions for global marketplaces and large vertical markets that processes over $14B in payment volume annually. Previously she was Vice President, Corporate & Regulatory Law at Blackhawk Network, Inc. for 5 years after being the Senior Corporate Counsel of the company for another 5 years.
She graduated from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 1977, magna cum laude, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (emphasis in accounting). Ms. Rowland obtained her law degree from the Cornell Law School, graduating cum laude in 1981.
In 1981, Suzan began her professional career in the corporate department of the San Francisco law firm of McCutchen, Doyle, Brown & Enersen (now Bingham McCutchen). In 1986, she moved to the smaller San Francisco law firm of Hyde & Drath, where she continued to practice corporate and securities law. Between 1988 and 1996, she lived in Hong Kong, temporarily suspending her practice to devote her time to family and travel.
In 1998, Suzan continued her corporate and business practice in the US with an emphasis on start-up and emerging growth companies. Her practice encompasses business formation, employment matters,executive compensation and equity incentive plans,
mergers and acquisitions, private equity financing, securities compliance, e-commerce contracts and intellectual property matters, including software and content licensing and trademark registration. She has participated in Conferences such as IMTC, the International Money Transfer Conferences discussing regulatory matters.
She lives in Alamo, California with her family, including her children John, Christina and Caroline. She is involved in school and community activities and recently completed a term as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the San Ramon Valley United Methodist Church.
