Stuart Butler is currently with MoneyGram International as the Vice President, Product. He has been been an evangelist and innovator within the payments industry for over twenty years, specializing on e-wallets, mobile wallets, money transfer & prepaid cards.

Stu has worked within the banking sector – as Marketing Director for HBOS, where he evolved their traditional retail banking business into the new digital world. He has also held senior digital payment positions within AMEX, overseeing the acquisition of Revolution Money, which became SERVE (the AMEX competitor to PayPal), and digitizing Western Union payments.

Stuart has also provided consulting solutions to a number of ground breaking and innovative businesses, on a global basis. He created mobile marketplace solutions for Millicom Tigo, Etisalat Flooz, MTN Mobile Money, Telenor and Axiata. He is, with his colleague John Wood, founders of qhora “a boutique disruptive digital payments consultancy” obsessive about frictionless payments.

At Skrill, for 3 years ending in 2015, he expanded the pre-paid card business into 70 markets and built an e-remittance platform. He also led the Emerging Markets team, focusing on Mobile Money Remittance and eCommerce for the unbanked.

He graduated with Honors from Staffordshire University in International Relations in 1994. Stu unplugs by walking his dog with his wife and daughters on the beaches of Cornwall or goes for a paddle on his SUP (Stand Up Paddle Board).
