Nicolas Vonthron is the EVP for Africa at TransferTo. He brings over 12 years’ experience in developing business strategy and dealing with mobile network operators in emerging markets, including Africa, the Middle-East, Asia and Latin America. His specialties lie in mobile money, with recognised industry expertise on interoperability and cross-border payments.

In his role at TransferTo, Nicolas is responsible for accelerating the company’s expansion across the African continent – specifically in driving business development, partnership strategy, and building key industry stakeholder relationships across the region.

Prior to joining TransferTo, Nicolas led the Mobile Money interoperability initiative at the GSMA where he supported industry projects in various geographies including Madagascar, Pakistan, WAEMU and Paraguay.

Before that, he worked for Orange where he was responsible for driving operational efficiency programmes across Africa and the Middle-East, and also managed marketing projects and mobile offers in Iran, Cote d’Ivoire and Botswana.

Nicolas started his carrier working for a French start-up who were at the forefront of Wi-Fi networks in France. He holds Masters degrees in Technology from Ecole Centrale Paris and in Business from EM Normandie.
