Alejandro is a lawyer at the IT Counsulting Department of Grant Thornton in Madrid, giving advice related to the legal impact of the application of new technologies (such as Blockchain) in different sectors (banking, insurance, etc.).

He is also the founder of Law & Bitcoin, dealing with the legal issues related to digital currencies (i.e. Bitcoin) and their underlying technology -Blockchain-.

Alejandro is the cofounder of Octopocket, a smart wallet that lets you send money using messaging apps (such as Telegram). It operates with 9 currencies (euros, dollars, pounds, etc.) and lets you withdraw money in more than 10,000 ATMs.

He previously worked at the Private Client department of KPMG in Madrid and before that at Allen & Overy, Ernst & Young and Gómez-Acebo & Pombo.

He has advised on M&A transactions and group restructurings, refinancing and acquisition tax structures. He has also advised on tax matters related to real estate investments, financial (such as derivatives; securitisation; etc.), capital markets and asset finance transactions and employee incentive schemes.

He regularly collaborates as speaker in specialized seminars and conferences related to Bitcoin and its regulation (such as Adigital -Spanish Association of Digital Economy-, Blockchain Week or Universidad Rey Juan Carlos). He has been quoted many times in newspapers and magazines such as El País, Vozpopuli, Conindesk and NewsBTC.
