HAVE YOU LOST A BANK ACCOUNT?
If you, as a Money Transfer Company, has seen a bank account closed or denied, please speak out…
Please do not think that nothing will happen if you speak out but this time. I truly think that the Money Transfer Industry has to make its voice heard and we have an opportunity now. The Money Transfer/Remittances Industry has been struggling with access to banking and the World Bank is conducting a detailed study to hear the individual voices of every company that has lost a bank account or has been denied one. With the results of that study, the World Bank will advise regulators, central banks and other governmental bodies in how to solve this problem.
Why is important for the World Bank? Because the closure of Bank Accounts has placed the market in a few hands and has decreased competition, hurting the remittance families all around the world.
But they need information from you, even if you think it might not solve your immeadiate problems. We need to speak out.
Questions to answer:
1) A Bank closed or denied you at least one of your bank accounts in the last two years with no apparent reason?
2) In what country or countries?
3) More than one account? How many?
4) Has banking access been a constraint for the development of your business?
Please answer those questions and send the email to Carlo Corazza, member of the World Bank Payment Group. Carlo will follow up and will keep your information confidential.
And of course, if you need any help from me reply to this newsletter.
Note: If you are part of a bank or a government institution your opinion is also important to solve this crisis together.
