Brian Wamatu joined Safaricom in November 2008 and is currently the head of M-PESA Product Development at Safaricom (Kenya), leading the innovation and product development arm of the global leader in mobile money – M-PESA. He has the overall responsibility of ensuring M-PESA becomes the key to transforming lives of the many Kenyans across all walks of life, who use M-PESA daily for both money transfer and payments. Use of M-PESA for low-mid value payments has seen a rapid growth in the electronic payments in Kenya opening up businesses to cashless distribution models and steering innovation in E&M-Commerce. He is also responsible for the M-PESA Roadmap which is expected to create exponential growth in mobile payments and deepen Financial Inclusion.
Brian has over 8 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry 6 of which have been in Financial Services ( M-PESA).
Mr. Wamatu is a Kenyan citizen and has a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics and Computer Science and an MBA from Strathmore University.
